Uma and Leopold began in the late 1970s in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Founder Lara grew up in a family atelier, where her father crafted leather goods for some of the city’s most distinguished stores.
Immersed in this environment from an early age, she naturally followed in his footsteps, creating handmade clothing in Rio at a young age.
As her journey expanded beyond Brazil, Lara spent time in Bali, where she embraced her father’s craft and became deeply inspired by Indonesian culture, its art scene, and its rich tradition of artisanship.
These influences played a key role in the birth of Uma and Leopold, a brand named in homage to her parents’ love and her cherished Brazilian childhood memories.
