Some places you visit. Others stay with you.
Positano is a town that asks you to slow down. Pastel houses stack up the cliffs, the lanes are made for walking, not driving, and the sea below changes colour every hour of the day. Here is how to enjoy it the way the locals do.
1. Wake up with the town
The best hour in Positano is the first one. Before the day boats arrive, the beach is almost empty, café tables are being set on the terraces and the light on the water turns from silver to gold. Take your coffee outside and watch the town wake up.
Wear: the Aurora Maxi Dress, white cotton that stays cool from the first coffee to the last light.
2. Let lunch take all afternoon
Lunch here is never rushed. Find a table in the shade, order whatever came out of the sea that morning, and stay. You will see families sharing plates, glasses of something cold, and usually a dog waiting very patiently for a piece of bread under the table.
Wear: the Cora Lace Mini Dress, ivory cotton lace, fully lined, made for long lunches.
3. Go where the locals swim
Spiaggia Grande is beautiful, but walk the path along the cliff to Fornillo beach for a quieter, more local feel. Sit on the edge of a pier and watch the sea like the old men do, or join the kids daring each other to jump from the jetty.
4. See it from the water
Positano looks completely different from the sea. Take a small boat along the coast, stop for a swim in a hidden cove, or catch the ferry to Amalfi or Capri for the day. Coming back in the late afternoon, with the whole town glowing in front of you, is a moment you will not forget.
Wear: the Daniella Midi Dress in our peach floral, light rayon crinkle that moves with the sea breeze.
5. Walk above the clouds
If you love walking, the Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) runs along the cliffs high above the coast, with views all the way to Capri. Go early, bring water and good shoes, and end the day back down in town.
6. Pack light
Positano is all steps and stairs, so travel light. Breathable cotton and linen for the heat, one lace piece that goes from the beach to dinner, flat sandals for the lanes and a small woven bag. That is all you need.
Pack: the Cora Lace Shirt and Cora Lace Pants, wear them as a set or open the shirt over swimwear. Add the Naomi Clutch for the evening.
7. Stay for the golden hour
Find a terrace facing west and do not make plans. The cliffs turn pink, the sea goes quiet and the whole town slows down to watch the sun disappear. This is the feeling we carried home with us, and the one we wanted Incanto to hold.
